...Sparky? Ugh.
Dave pulls out his spellbook and double checks his new spellform before tracing it in the air. As he draws, the geometric lines distort the air, giving off an immense heat that begins to blister Dave's hand. He grunts and focuses, knowing if he gets distracted and makes a mistake the backfire would injure his aether channels at best if not kill him outright.
Dave draws the complicated spellform slowly, forcing himself not to rush despite the pain. Energy leaves Dave in a rush, the lines begin to flicker and spark, sending glowing embers up into the air. Damn it, it shouldn't be taking this much of my aether pool to summon one Shadow.
The spellform completes but aether continues to flow into it from Dave as it ignites and grows, spinning slowly and gradually gaining speed until it becomes a wirring fan of flame, out from which Agni steps. Its armored form kneels and holds something aloft as the firy portal behind closes. Curious, Dave looks closer and sees an archaic armored gauntlet, not unlike what Agni is wearing though a more slender version.
I guess I'm supposed to put this on? Probably should have had Fergus here for my first official pacting. Dave accepts the gauntlet, placing on his hand. He gives a very manly yelp as a searing heat scalds the flesh inside, a smell of cooked meat and burnt hair filling the air. The pain fades much more quickly than it should and Dave looks at the gauntlet with trepidation. What have I gotten myself into? Still, if this makes me more powerful pain is a cheap price.
